Snowshoeing

Go solo or join an expert lead tour with Action Tours or the Big Bear Discovery Center. Stop by Goldsmith’s Sports or Bear Valley Bikes for snowshoe rentals. Adventuring on National Forest trails is permitted year-round. Adventure Passes are required to park in most trail head parking lots.

Alpine Slide

The Alpine Slide at Magic Mountaion Recreation Area in Big Bear Lake, home of the world-famous Alpine Slide, offers family fun year round. In the summer there is a cool water slide and in the winter there is plenty of fun snow play. The Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain is home to Southern California’s only authentic bobsled experience. Begin with a scenic chairlift ride to the top. From there, riders navigate their own individually controlled sleds, each with Teflon runners and ball bearing wheels, down their choice of two quarter-mile long cement tracks filled with high-banked turns and long straightaways.

Big Bear Snow Play

Day and Night Tubing

The former ski area known as Rebel Ridge, which introduced snowmaking to Southern California in the late 1950’ s, has been a family favorite for inner tubing through generations as parents who grew up sliding here are now bringing their kids. Now families can make memories there at night too, as Big Bear Snow Play opens for after dark tubing sessions Fridays, Saturdays and holiday periods from 5-9 pm.
